More about the title

Years ago when I was allegedly studying at the University of Western Australia I joined the UNIversity Science Fiction Association UNISFA.

An annual event of UNISFA was a picnic dubbed the "Hobbits Picnic".

Fast forward to a week or so ago and a number of ex-UNISFAns now based in Canberra decided to hold a picnic on the same day as the one being held in Perth, complete with phone link up.

With the "Talk Like a Pirate Day" happening at about the same time a Pirate Theme was added to both picnics.

One of the organisers here came up with the phrase "Pirates of the Burley Griffin" and it was too good for me to pass up when choosing a title for the journal. He's quite amused by the idea. :)

I actually got up early enough today to ride with the Canberra Mob. A nice ride in company around the east basin of Lake Burley Griffin. Felt good.
