As part of the continuuing preparation for NZ I dropped the trike off for a service this morning with Michael Priest of Fuse Recumbents.
Whilst chatting he mentioned that he'd just had to replace the chain and rear cassette for a client who'd done 10,000Ks. Apparently the chain had stretched to the point where it was a whole link longer than when it started.
I said "That should be around April then", chuckled, and moved on.
When I got to work I had a double take moment. I've never needed this much maintenance, or replacing such major parts, on bikes before.
But then again, I've never used a bike this much before. I'm quite sure that in the last year or so I've ridden more than I ever have in my life.
