Pirates of the Burley Griffin
A schedule bears the same relationship to reality as Astrology.
Well that's two strikes against Admiral Fisher

As I've mentioned previously, one of Admiral Jacky Fisher's brainfarts was the concept of the battlecruiser.

Now it turns out he has the earliest recorded usage of "OMG". Hat tip to @colvinius & @jackschofeld on twitter for the History News Network Link.

I think I read it that way almost instinctively.

Although wasn't there a class designated CH at about that time? Were they the protected cruisers?

One of the real problems I see with the concept is that it relies on the assumption that you are the ONLY navy capable of building the fast hunters*.

As soon as the opponent builds matching ships that your BCs can't outrun, you have sprinting glass cannons duking it out.

That won't end well for anyone.

A second issue is that the BCs were actually BIGGER than battleships constructed in the same years: all that speed came at a price, and contributed to how fundamentally unbalanced they were.

I will agree that sloppy ammunition handling didn't help. :)
*Something David Weber clearly thought about when he gave the bigger ships LOWER accelerations in the Honorverse.
