So, what do you want me to watch and write about next?

Something else and I'll leave a comment

What about 20 Days of Anime Movies?

You've got to be kidding me right?
Cool, I'll suggest one of the movies in the comments

Assuming there are enough suggestions for the 20 days of movies, Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer would definitely be on the list. :)

DO NOT do the Escaflowne MOVIE or the Nadia Movie.

DO do that voodoo... er, do the Ah! Megamisama! movie, at least one Miyazaki movie (your choices), and maybe one or more of the fighting anime: Street Fighter II: The Movie, Naruto Shippuden: The Movie, Fatal Fury:TMP, and/or one of the DBZ movies (as a standalone, Movie 2:The World's Strongest or Movie 7: The Three Super Saiyajin -- #2 actually has some good moments for other characters besides the Saiyajin brigade, and #7 is like the complete distillation of the series into a single 45 minutes; you could also do a double bill with Movie 5 and 6, the "Cooler" movies.)

The Goddess movie is just wonderful and would definitely be on the list.

The fighting anime is an interesting suggestion as it isn't a genre I've tended to follow at all. Would any of those movies work as an introduction to the genre?

Perfect Blue!
(My theory? There's only under a MINUTE of "reality" in there. EVERYTHING else is delusion built on delusion.)

There will have to be at least one Satoshi Kon film in there, and Perfect Blue is a good choice. I'll have to see what other suggestions are made though.

Twenty Days of Space Adventurer Cobra?

Is it available anywhere? I've never seen it.

Hmm, TV Series that were my favorites? Varies depending on decade.. I've been spoiled with too much good anime over the years...

Complete series there are so many... Series canceled or never finished, again so many... The obvious ones are already done or probably already in your list... "Escaflowne" you're currently doing is top of my list.. "Evangelion" isn't too far behind, tho I'm tending more toward the current rendition remake movies rather than the old original TV series. Being a car nut I loved "Initial D" but that's a bit too epic to get into. 4 series. "Silent Mobius" was always high on my list, as was "GiTSh" and "Gurren Lagann".

Older series ppl may not remember? "MAPS" was one I am sad to never see finished... It had so much promise.. "EX Driver" (Yes, another car one :D), "PHOTON" (You gotta love this series), "Macross Plus" (really well done for it's age and don't forget "Macross Frontier" either).

Recent stuff you may not be aware of or ever seen... "High school of the Dead", "Spice and Wolf" (two seasons worth), "Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu", "Break Blade", "Katanagatari", "Dance in the Vampire Bund"...

Stuff currently still screening but well worth a watch.. "Infinite Stratos", ".hack/Quantum", "Fractale" and for the pure wtf factor, "Kore wa Zombie desu ka". :)

Dunno how many of these you can get ahold of but they're pretty good for various reasons, storyline/plot, imagination, characters.

My choices will be limited partly by what I have (or can get) on local DVD*, and partly by what I'm prepared to put up with for a month or more.

*Running the episode on the PC whilst I write the posts is REALLY useful.

So to comment on your suggestions:

Evangelion: No. Just no. http://arcadiagt5.livejournal.com/84506.html

Photon, Maps, Macross Plus: Too short. I'm going to have work out something for the shorter series later.

Silent Mobius: Interesting, and I think I have the US releases for that.

Ghost in the Shell: Not out of the question but there is a hump for me to get over there. http://arcadiagt5.livejournal.com/332163.html

.hack/sign might get a run, but I haven't seen any of the other instalments.

I'm not familiar with a lot of the other recent stuff you mention.

Just as an update to my older post, "High School of the Dead" and "Dance in the Vampire Bund" as well as "Wolf and Spice" season 2 are out on DVD/BD now. locally.

"Angel Beats" is too and I do recommend it as well.

Do bear in mind that my tolerance for fanservice is strictly limited these days. I'd rather the time was spent on story.

A quick glance at the TV Tropes pages for the first two is... not promising.

Angel Beats looks a little more promising.

I may be getting Spice and Wolf season 2 shortly.

Almost forgot an epic series that I did touch on before but never actually expanded on. "Macross Frontier", 25 episodes, Japanese release only (afaik, still noting outside). Only available Fansubbed either thru Lunar or Central Anime.

Made in 2007. Turned into a theatrical released movie in 2009. Think Macross Plus quality animation, storytelling, character design and flaws.. then turn it up to eleven. The attention to detail is phenomenal. If you were ever a fan of any Macross in general, you simply MUST see this series. Any Anime Fan club should be able to source it for you or I can assist off journal if you need me to.

One thing that always seems to happen in anime series and especially in the later Macross series is small things, incidental things that are easily overlooked or dismissed being important to the plot or relevant but you never find out until midway thru the series. Frontier does this extremely well, so subtly that you will miss it until you rewatch it again. I won't give examples but there are a number in the first episode alone and if that one ep. doesn't catch your interest then no point in watching the rest, however I do think you will be hooked.

I bounced off the first episode of Macross Frontier. This largely explains why: http://arcadiagt5.livejournal.com/327064.html

I have heard a lot of good things about it though, and may try again.

Although, to be honest, I'm more likely to have a second go at the Ah! My Goddess TV series. :)
