Great! I just put up a link to it, thanks to you.

We likely to see you this weekend?

I'd like to, although I may be working on Saturday.

I wonder how someone who wrote points 1, 2 and 4 managed to insert point 3 in there? Having said that now is not the time to discuss causes, he hypocritically leapt straight into a paragraph presenting his own unsubstantiated views on causes. His own comment, "you are more likely to say something stupid, hurtful and wrong if you are pushing a barrow" applies very well to the very same paragraph in which it is stated!

Unsurprisingly, his so-called facts distract the first commenter from the worthwhile points he was making elsewhere. Rather than discuss his speculation on causes, or make the article consistent by removing paragraph 3 altogether, he makes a point of blocking that poster from further comment. Not worth the link. You could do much better yourself.

I'm inclined to think the blocking was more due to the tone of the comment than to the content.

ie I think something along the lines of "Your statement X is in error, please see reference Y and Z" would have gotten debate rather than the blocking earned by "you're an eedjit, get lost."

I also don't know enough to comment on the accuracy or otherwise of the content of Paragraph 3 but I remember Ash Wednesday from the 80s and it sounds eerily familiar and unstoppable...

Could be true, but my main issue is that making pronouncements about the causes, or supposed non-causes, is just plain dumb. Even if it leads to debate, it's still debate about something which the writer said it's not the appropriate time to debate!

Fair point.

It is a post worth watching though, could see another smacking administered soonish... :)

Amusing. Can't say I'm surprised. There are few ways as efficient for pissing people off as to say "We shouldn't discuss X. Now here are my views on X. Now, we won't discuss X."
